INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP 2
1. How to Use the Lasso Tool?
The Lasso Tool allows you to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document. If you like drawing with pencil and paper or cutting and pasting objects from a photo, then you will love the Lasso Tool. When you click on the Lasso Tool from the Toolbar, you will see three different tool options:
Lasso
Polygonal Lasso
Magnetic Lasso
2. How to Use the Pen Tool?
The pen tool is the way that you add these points and the way you drag the tool as you create the points determines how they will look.
Lasso Tools vs Pen Tool
The pen tool is a versatile tool in Photoshop that can be used to create extremely precise shapes and paths, using manually placed anchor points. Although commonly used to make selections, the pen tool was not natively made as a “selection tool”
3. How to use Layer in Photoshop?
Layers are different images stacked on top of each other. You can use each layer without affecting another one to make adjustments. The advantage of using Layers is that you can save a Photoshop file with all the layers included. This means you can use layers for non-destructive editing. The layers contain all the extra information and/ or images you want to add to the original file.

Project 1A (Part 2): Digital Collage
Briefing Video:
- The image that our professor gave us had to serve as the exercise's main material. The difference between this activity and the physical collage was that we had to utilize Photoshop for path creation, masking, and layering. It would enhance our Photoshop proficiency for the following tutorials. These were the images given by our lecturer:

Figure 2.1 Digital Collage
- In my first composition, I selected two elderly people searching for directions as the major characters. On the other hand, I included the image of the building at its back because it makes a powerful comparison. In order to highlight the main character in the center, I utilized a pen tools to draw a shape at random and put it in the background.

Figure 2.2 Digital Collage
- The child who was carrying a football served as the primary character in my second piece. According to my belief, the child was returning home by train after playing football. I cropped the phrases from the 'people_walking image' and placed them on top of my sketches since I really enjoy putting words in my works. I also drew a shape from the texture using pen tools and layered it as the floor.
Figure 2.3 Digital Collage
- For this composition, we'll have the primary focus on the man exiting the lift. I made an assumption that the man had just returned from work, and after he left the lift. He'd be transferred to his apartment, the secondary focus. And the "texture", looks like the external belts of Saturn are the tools that the man used to return home. The word " ROTHENBACH" however doesn't have any specific meaning, but just a word collage that makes the composition visually appealing.

- In the next week's lectures, our lecturer chose the best composition for us to make the final adjustment. Composition 1 has been chosen by our lecturer. He commented that the main characters which were the elderly people should be smaller at the collage, it can't be the same size as the building at the back. The following was my final work:
